Rockstar's Silence on GTA V Story DLC Continues to Perplex Fans

It has been nearly a4 years since Grand Theft Auto V (GTA V) first hit store shelves in 2013, yet despite its continued popularity and consistent stream of updates for both the single-player campaign and online multiplayer modes, fans are still left wondering about any potential story-driven downloadable content (DLC).

While Rockstar has been quite vocal about their plans to continue supporting GTA Online through regular free updates that add new features, vehicles, and game modes, there have been almost complete radio silences on whether or not we can expect a long-awaited mainline expansion for the single-player campaign.

GTA V's enduring success is undeniable. The game continues to sell millions of copies each year across multiple platforms including PlayStation 3 (PS3), Xbox One, PS4 and PC - an impressive feat considering it first released in September 2013. Even more impressively still are its online multiplayer numbers which continue to attract hundreds of thousands of players daily into GTA Online's virtual world.

This sustained popularity has naturally led many fans to speculate about what Rockstar might have cooking up behind closed doors when it comes to new content for the critically-acclaimed title. Given the immense success and enduring appeal that Grand Theft Life IV (GTAV) continues to enjoy, along with its rich narrative potential - not mention all of the loose ends left hanging at the conclusion of the main story mode campaign.

However, despite numerous reports suggesting otherwise, Rockstar remains frustratingly tight-lipped on any plans for new single-player DLC. The last major update we received was back in March 2016 when a rumor surfaced about an upcoming expansion called 'Project Red', although nothing ever materialized from this supposed leak.

Meanwhile, across the Atlantic Ocean things seem very different indeed. According to recent reports emerging out of Europe and other parts of Western Europe (WWE), Rockstar is allegedly planning on releasing no fewer than three separate pieces of DLC for Grand Theft Auto V in 2017 alone! While these claims have yet to be officially confirmed by either Rockstar themselves or any official sources close to the matter, it does suggest that there may still be life left in GTAV's tank - at least from a business perspective.

So what exactly could this new wave of DLC entail? Speculation has run rampant among fans for months now, with some predicting everything from an expanded story mode campaign set several years after the events of GTA V proper to even more elaborate co-op multiplayer modes that would allow multiple players to team up and take on all manner of missions together.

Whatever form this potential new content might eventually take - if it indeed ever materializes at all - one thing is certain: fans will be watching Rockstar's every move closely in the coming months leading up to E3 2017, eager for any glimmer of hope that their long-awaited return to Los Santos and beyond may finally be upon us.
